Random Random thoughts
Homework is done, another three pages of my summer scrapbook are done, and a nap was had this afternoon :)
So now I get the pure pleasure of knowing Im done with everything and can just relax. Talking to one of my favorites on AIM :) and listening to some music.
Today, I realized that my classes are true blessings to me. I get to take a music class, something that is PERFECT for me. I love music, I cant remember a time when I didnt like music. Whether it be Reba McEntire, Kadesh Ampitheater worships, my Daddy's whistles, my choir classes from junior high and high school, or sitting next to Karla during worship...I have always adored music. Music class is what I look forward to on Tuesday/Thursday. My English teacher is really into our spiritual lives. She even passes around a prayer journal and stuff. HUGE difference from A&M
Talking about A&M...University of Texas is suing Texas A&M University for the slogan "Saw'em Off". I am definitely investing in a shirt to protest the stupidity.
Also, this video is AH-mazing. Definitely my song for my life.

HILARIOUS

Freaking Sweet
Well, here I am laying in my bed in my dorm room. Ive been here since 2. I was suppose to work until 6.
"Why am I laying here?" you may ask.
Well, friends and family. I now have a stomach virus.
At work today I got weak in the knees, got clammy, starting sweating, had buzzing in my ears and black out/fainted for a min or so. And tried to sleep it off in the office so I could be there to help my boss with any questions when she needed me. I couldnt stop running to the bathroom and relieveing myself of all foods I have eaten in the past day. No fun, makes the ribs sore, but oh well
I ended up coming home and still feel really weak and iffy.
I just commented back to Kristi on her comment and thought of something.
Being sick today and having a rough day means that tomorrow will just be that much better, right? Just gotta get through the night and then hopefully tomorrow Ill be good to go :)
Fractured ribs and a stomach virus. I am one lucky girl :)

Do I believe?
My english teacher has this thing wherer we have to freewrite for 5-7 min at the beginning of each class on the topic of her choice. No, we arent in elementary school. We are college students and until today. I thought this ritual was obsurd.
Today are free writing topic was, "What is the purpose of miracles?"
Let's just say today I couldnt even write for five minutes.
Do I even believe in miracles? I mean, in the past week, I have heard, "It is a miracle you are okay," SO many times. But dont even believe that. Yes, I believe that Jesus performed miracles when he was on earth. And yes I believe they were very productive in bringing people to Christ.
But current day miracles? I definitely know that society as a whole throws the word, "miracle' around much too loosely.
I believe I am here today because I still have something to do on Earth. Yes, I believe God blessed me, but I dont see that as miracle? Am I wrong? Is that a miracle?
Thoughts are good to put down in comments. So I can read them and process them.

Life goes on...maybe?
Well, I hope I didnt give any of ya'll a heart attack by my last post. Im pretty sure I gave somebody one when I left a message on her voicemail right after it happened (sorry, Cheronn).
Things are getting better. My parents got here Tuesday evening and just left. I didnt want them to leave, but the longer they stayed, the more I was going to want them to stay. It was nice to stay in a hotel room with them for two nights while I started the recooperating process.
I have been undescribingly sore for a while now. I woke up this morning, and my left side hurt more than it has since it happened. Bringing me to tears when I rolled over. Sleep has definitely been hard to come by. Everytime I close my eyes I either feel like I am going to be sick or I see it happening all over again, which is not a fun thing. Food hasent really been staying down, so I have been keeping the eating to a minimum too, because it makes me naseous just looking at it. Classes are good. I think I got a good batch this semester.
Its suppose to ice and snow again tomorrow, so we'll see if we get another bad weather day. My Daddy made me drive the truck around the block with him before he left and I felt like I wanted to cry. I will only be driving to school (and only bc its freezing outside), dorm, and work. And Im not going back to work til Monday.
I dont know when ill be ready to drive long distance (maybe by my brothers wedding in march...haha). Its just going to take time...expecially if the weather stays the way it is now.
Okay I gotta go to class, then come back and try to get a nap...we'll see how that pans out

But me and Courtney are okay. Shooken up and scraped up, but oh well.
Texans and ice do NOT mix well

And these are the Days od Our Lives...
So, its that time again...Im heading back to school tomorrow.
I am so excited. Houston was good for a while, but Im glad to go back to my friends and to get another semester under my belt :)
Im definitely going to miss the parentals, though...it has been great hanging out with them the past few weeks.
While fixing my schedule for next semester, I realized that growing up may not be all its cracked up to be.
I will be taking classes all day Tuesday and Thursday and on MWF from 8-10:50 and working from 11 til 6. And then, of course, working on Saturday :) JOOOYYYYY. No really, I got lucky with my job, and am so grateful to at least like something that I do SO much.
I was thinking about life as I registered for classes. My life as a non-responsible adult are almost over. In two and a half years, I will have bills to pay, and have the future of little kids in my hands on a daily basis. DEFINITELY need to enjoy these next couple of years and live them to the fullest.
Growing up has brought things into my life that I never expected. Some brought me to tears and some make me laugh so hard that my stomach hurts. No matter which of those reactions I have, I have also grown up in my faith and I believe that whatever happens in my life was placed there for a lesson from God. And there is no better assurance than that!

Work, work, work.
So, I have come to realize that in the past three months, I have been pushing work a whole heck of a lot. When I was at school, in between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I worked 35-40 hours a week. Along with classes, then finals. It was terrible. Now, Im at home on what is suppose to be winter break. And I have gotten to sleep in 3 days the whole break. Because of work. Dont get me wrong. The money is definitely a good thing. Eventhough, I should get better at actually holding onto it. I use to like working at Once Upon a Child, but since my boss isnt there because of bed rest, and only one of the people I use to work with is there, things change and it just isnt something I enjoy anymore. I told my boss I wont be back for any part of the summer (I worked there for the three weeks before I left for Portland last summer). And Im bringing my hours at least 10 hours next semester.
My attitude when I have to wake up for work is not a plesant one. It kinda makes me nervous about working for the rest of my life. But, I was okay this summer going to be with those kids and stuff, and since that is what my job will be, Im hoping I will be okay there too.
Working is no bueno, but Im sure Im learning SOMETHING from it.
Oh, what do you know? Its time for me to go to work :)

You know your from Houston....
If you have EVER lived in Houston, you know these are the truth. Its a way of life, you accept it, live it, and move on.
1. You must learn to pronounce the city name. It is "Ewe-stun", not "Huestun." Oh yea, it is pronounced "San Phil-a-pee," not "San Phil-eep" (San Felipe).
2. Forget the traffic rules you learned elsewhere. Houston has its own version of traffic rules...Hold on and pray. There is no such thing as a dangerous high-speed chase in Houston. We all drive like that.
3. All directions start with, "Go down to Loop 610".... which has no beginning and no end.
4. The Chamber of Commerce calls getting through traffic... a "Scenic Drive."
5. The morning rush hour is from 6:00AM to 10:00AM. The evening rush hour is from 3:00PM to 7:00PM. Friday's rush hour starts Thursday morning.
6. If you actually stop at a yellow light, you will be rear-ended, cussed out and possibly shot. When you are the first one off the starting line, count to five when the light turns green before going, to avoid getting into any cross-traffic's way. *You can ask my sister about getting plowed down by a person who strongly believes in this one!
7. Kuykendahl Road can ONLY be pronounced by a native Houstonian.
8. Construction on I-10, I-45, US 59 and Loop 610 is a way of life and a permanent form of entertainment.
9. All unexplained smells are explained by the phrase, "Oh, we must be in Pasadena!!!."
10. If someone actually has their turn signal on, it is probably a factory defect.
11. All old ladies with blue hair in a pink Cadillac have total right-of-way.
12. The minimum acceptable speed on Loop 610 is 85 mph. Anything less is considered downright sissy.
13. The wrought iron on windows in east Houston is NOT ornamental.
14. Never stare at the driver of the car with the bumper sticker that says, "Keep honking, I'm reloading." In fact, don't honk at anyone. *THIS IS NOT A JOKE EITHER*
15. If you are in the left lane, and only going 70 mph in a 60 mph zone, people are not waving when they go by.
16. The Sam Houston Toll road is our daily version of NASCAR.
17. If it's 100 degrees, Thanksgiving must be next weekend.
18. When in doubt, remember that all unmarked exits lead to Louisiana.
19. You don't have to wait for an exit to get off a freeway, just follow the ruts in the grass to the frontage road like everyone else. This is how Houston residents notify Texas Department of Transportation where exits should have been built.
20. No one makes plans for a Friday night in the Fall. You go to the high school football game. No questions asked, that IS your plan. And you like it.

Why not a photo post?
First off, since I made the big change of cutting my hair, I went ahead and colored it too. Ive always had a secret yearning to be a redhead, but never had the nerve to go all the way. I still dont, actually, so this is as close as I'll ever get.
Oh, and I made that necklace at work, too :)
This is a precious, precious baby. I had the joy of holding, and followingg this waddling toddler around all day today. Shes like me third cousin, I think. Sweet little Reagan.
This is my aunt Cheri Crowe. Shes a pretty excellent lady. One of my favs :)
This is how I spent my entire Christmas at my Dad's family Christmas. And truthfully, Im not complaining.
These are the girls in my momma's family. We are kinda a good looking bunch.
These are the boys on my moms side of the family. And we all know what they say, "Boys will be boys"
Being home has been great. I love being here. I wish I could say it hass been a time of relaxation, but that couldnt be farther from the truth. Going from place to place seeing family and working at my Houston job has definitely kept me busy the past week and a half. I cant wait to go back to school and it couldnt come soon enough. I definitely never felt THAT way last year.
I hope ya'll had a great restful break!!!!
